The Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Cultural and Arts Center is conceived as a new cultural threshold where the city’s historical layers, Zağnos Valley, city park, and public transportation networks intersect. Responding to the site’s ten-meter level difference, the project embeds large performance halls into the topography while dividing the building into smaller volumes that follow the slope and connect different urban levels. Pedestrian routes from the viaduct and park converge through terraces, foyers, amphitheater steps, and open-air cultural spaces, extending the city’s public circulation. Three performance halls—opera, theater, and a flexible Black Box—are shaped according to their spatial and acoustic requirements. White textured plaster unifies the fragmented masses, while landscaped roofs extend the vegetation of Zağnos Valley. The project becomes a layered public ground where topography, culture, and urban life intersect.
